Chenango Valley (CV) 1962-1963 (7-11, 7-12)

Dick Leahy’s 9 of 13 field goals ended the 12 game losing streak over Norwich 48-43. Then Art lost this high scorer to medical problems. As a result Marv Berg got more valuable playing time as a sophmore. He averaged 13.4 pts a game to lead the Warriors. Dana Holcolm became an excellent playmaker and ball handler and was 2nd in scoring. For the 1st time CV lost the Sidney Christmas tourney after winning the 1st three classics. The losses were twice to North, Owego and Vestal. CV split the series with Central, ME and UE. Sidney beat CV in their Christmas Classic for 1st time ending Cv’s domination of this tourney. CV beat Homer once and swept Norwich and JC twice. The Warriors then met UE for the third time in the 1st Sect 4 playoff game. UE took the series and this game by a close 54-48 ending CV’s season.
