Chenango Valley (CV) 1959-1960 (10-8,  12-9)

This was one of the stranger seasons with CV starting out losing 5 straight games, at UE 57-53, Oneonta 64-40, North 60-59, UE 56-46 and at Central 53-47. CV then lost only 3 more the remainder of the regular season, Vestal 68-58, JC 59-54 and Owego 83-58 th last game. This was quite a turn around. Constant juggling of the team combinations finally found a unit for success.  The Sect 4 playoffs proved successful by easily beating UE in their 3rd meeting 70-53. Next to fall was JC 66-56 after they had split their two previous games. It was now set for a return trip to play Cortland at Cornell’s Barton Hall. This was Art’s 6th trip to the finals having won 3 titles from 1951 through 1954 and losing in 1955 and 1956. This year against Cortland it went right down to the buzzer as CV fell 61-60. Still quite a year from an 0-5 start.
