Art’s chargers after returning from WWII started strong beating both Elmira teams on the road and Ithaca at North. North, a championship team, proved tougher edging the Bullpups 33-31 at North. Then at mid-season Bob Kniffen, who was averaging almost 20 per game was called up to the varsity. After Charlie Fitzgerald scored 26 he was also called up. Art was lucky to finish 3rd in the league losing two key players. Boyd Kennicutt paced the club after these call-ups. Kniffen proved instrumental in the final varsity win over Norwich in the Sectional finals at Cornell’s Barton Hall. He tossed in 8 points to complete a 22-0 record.
